Rustic Root Releases A New Whiskey To The Gaslamp

Rustic Root

Rustic Root is one of the most hip restaurants and roof-top bars in the Gaslamp. Serving up rustic American cuisine with a twist, along with ultra crafty cocktails, it’s no surprise San Diegans come here looking for something different.

And to add to their menu of marvels, this month the trendy spot released a new whiskey!

Launched as part of their partnership with Woodford Reserve, a Kentucky bourbon and whiskey, Rustic Root celebrated this new libation with a roof-top party.

On Wednesday, April 5th, the party hosted the truest of whiskey lovers.

Craft cocktails were served along with tasty tapas. A crowd favorite was a hummus flatbread, topped with roasted peppers and cremini mushrooms (tip: next time you’re there, head straight to the rooftop to indulge in this one).

Throughout the event, there were various whiskey tastings, in addition to a station with little bites which changed the whiskey flavor as you sipped away. The instructions were simple: Sip on the whiskey, followed by cheese, sip, hazelnut, sip, cranberry, sip, orange, sip, chocolate, sip, sorghum, and finish with another sip.

This is one exercise we didn’t mind!

Guests of the launch party also had the opportunity to choose the newest drink to hit Rustic Root’s menu, by voting between two options. “Honey Bramble” was the first option, with the Rustic Root Bourbon, mixed berries, and blackberry syrup.

The second option was called “Before the Brave,” and was a mixture of the Rustic Root Bourbon, apple bourbon, luxardo, amaro nonino, simple syrup, and orange zest.

The winner was… (drumroll, please)…

Before the Brave! The crowd favorite can now be found on the menu at Rustic Roots, and we highly suggest you swing by for a taste!

The Rustic Root Bourbon is exclusive to Rustic Roots, and can be tasted on their spring & summer menu.
