SD Loyal Soccer Club Launches “Mission Gratitude” Initiative To Support San Diego’s Military

San Diego Loyal SC (SD Loyal) soccer club, and supporting partner Compass Real Estate, announced the launch of its newest initiative, Mission Gratitude.

The new initiative provides support and opportunities for a sense of community and camaraderie for active duty, veteran and retired military members and their families all season long.

SD Loyal Welcomes Fans Back To Torero Stadium At Full Capacity

SD Loyal branded military dog tags for the first 3000 fans

The program kicks off on July 3 at Torero Stadium when SD Loyal takes on rival Sacramento Republic FC which will be nationally televised on ESPN2. The first 3,000 fans that arrive at the stadium will receive SD Loyal branded military dog tags, all active military and veteran service members will receive tickets at a 50 percent discount and a halftime ceremony will be dedicated to swearing in new Marine Corps, Navy, and Air Force recruits.

Beginning this match and all season long, 100 seats in Torero Stadium will be declared the “Mission Gratitude” section hosting service members and their families at all home matches.

The program will also introduce and honor a nominated active duty, veteran or retired military member, “Hero of the Match”, prior to the national anthem at every home match. Military members chosen will receive two match tickets, present the colors during the National Anthem and receive a small gift to show the club’s appreciation for their sacrifice.

Thank you to the men and women in uniform

“As we celebrate Independence Day in San Diego, we’d like to thank the men and women in uniform and the veterans in our community for their service,” said SD Loyal Chairman Andrew Vassiliadis. “San Diego is proud to be the home of the greatest military community in the nation and our ‘Mission Gratitude’ initiative will not only give back but celebrate these incredible members who have dedicated their lives to serving our country.”

Additionally, the club plans to host a watch party for approximately 200 military and family members at the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar for the August 1 match against LA Galaxy II.
