Subaru Of America, Inc. Donates Over 910,000 Meals To Feeding San Diego As Part Of Its “Subaru Loves To Help” Initiative

Feeding San Diego, a member of Feeding America’s network of food banks, has received a donation of over 910,000 meals from Subaru of America, Subaru of New England, and Subaru Distributors Corp., as well as local Subaru retailers.

The number of meals donated to Feeding San Diego includes additional meals from local Subaru retailers who gave supplemental donations in their local communities. Local dealer Subaru of El Cajon chose Feeding San Diego as their Hometown Charity and generously donated an additional $13,000 to the organization. These funds will help the organization’s ongoing pandemic response efforts throughout San Diego County.

100 million meals goes to Feeding America

Earlier this year, Subaru of America, Inc., joined by its two regional independent distributors, Subaru of New England and Subaru Distributors Corp., announced its continued commitment to supporting people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic by helping provide an additional 100 million meals to Feeding America®. This donation is double the automaker’s April 2020 donation, in which they helped provide 50 million meals to the hunger-relief organization.

Grateful hearts all around

“While recovery is on the horizon, the demand for food assistance remains high and resources are needed,” said Dan Shea, CEO of Feeding San Diego. “We are immensely grateful to Subaru of America, and our local retailers, for the generosity they have demonstrated and their commitment to ending hunger, year over year.”

Even as the pandemic eases its grip on society, millions of Americans remain out of work and unable to provide adequate nourishment for themselves and for their families. In fact, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, one in four children in this country may face hunger. These meals will go directly to people who are struggling during this time of uncertainty.

We’re all in this together

“Once again, Subaru is working with Feeding America to help the millions of families struggling with hunger across the U.S.,” said Thomas J. Doll, President and CEO, Subaru of America, Inc. “As we continue to weather these unprecedented times together, we hope our contribution to Feeding America ensures the most vulnerable members of our communities are fed and cared for.”

Stay healthy, San Diego!
