Harumama Spinoff, Teriyaki & Bao To Open In Carlsbad

Local restaurateurs, Jenny and James Pyo, who own and operate Love Boat Sushi, Pokewan, Blue Ocean and Harumama, are bringing a new concept to Carlsbad. Officially opening on November 5, 2020, Teriyaki & Bao is an Asian-fusion, DIY restaurant located at 711 Grand Avenue in Carlsbad.

Be your own chef!

At Teriyaki & Bao, every diner is their own chef. At this Harumama spinoff, guests can enjoy the excitement and entertainment of cooking up their own sizzling meal in a personal-size cast-iron skillet heated to 500ºF. Diners can customize their dish with several high-quality meats, vegetables, rice, noodles and curries that can be “cooked your way” on the hot skillet. Since the skillet remains hot for more than 20 minutes, diners can enjoy the warm meal until the very last bite!

Other unique menu items draw inspiration from internet-famous Asian food trends, like

  • Tornado Fried Rice which is classic fried rice with a tornado omelette and tomato sauce,
  • Creamy Matcha Udon with curry, green tea powder, potato, bell pepper, edamame, carrot and onion.
  • Almond Cauliflower Bites served Korean style with gochujang sauce.

Harumama’s Instagram-worthy character buns are here!

Also on the menu are Harumama’s Instagram-favorite steamed character buns, now with new character designs and fillings as well as never-before-seen character Bao buns which are unique to this location. Beverages include beer, wine, soju and sake, with happy hour and lunch combos coming soon.

Chef James created this menu with the goal of sharing happiness. He is always experimenting in the kitchen and trying out the latest culinary trends. He strives to make more than just a meal – he is passionate about creating a truly unforgettable dining experience for his customers.

Teriyaki & Bao will be open Monday through Thursday from 11AM to 9PM. Friday and Saturday from 11AM to 9:30PM (closed on Sunday). Phone: (760) 637-5737.
