Two Old Town San Diego Icons Are Open Again!

Diane Powers’ Bazaar del Mundo Shops and neighboring Mexican restaurant, Casa Guadalajara, two of Old Town San Diego’s favorite places for festive shopping and dining, reopened today!

Two Old Town San Diego Icons Reopening Today

Bazaar del Mundo, an independently-owned colorful collection of retail shops offering unique items from around the world, is open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Casa Guadalajara, known for its award-winning cuisine, lively atmosphere and giant margaritas, is open for dine-in and take-out service daily from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

“We are so grateful for all the support and patience from our customers over the last few months,” said Owner/Operator Powers. “We are excited to welcome them back and show off the wonderful new items we have stocked in our Bazaar del Mundo Shops. Longtime customers will also notice some new décor in Casa Guadalajara’s Cantina – making our atmosphere more spirited than ever before!”

In compliance with State, City and County guidelines, both locations are implementing all required measures to help protect the health and safety of their guests, staff and community.

Safety protocols include:

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as masks and gloves, is required for all staff
  • Masks are required for customers unless they are seated at the restaurant
  • Physical distancing is being practiced throughout the two businesses, including restaurant seating and payment lines at the Shops
  • New, disposable menus provided to every Casa Guadalajara customer
  • Cleaning and disinfecting on a regular basis

For Casa Guadalajara’s re-opening, Powers is offering a special menu featuring the restaurant’s most popular dishes and longtime customer favorites, which can be found here. Delivery service is also available through DoorDash, Postmates, and The Office Express.

Those wishing to shop from the comfort of their homes may visit Bazaar del Mundo’s Online Store, which features a unique selection of home décor, kitchenware, and festive Mexican clothing and more. Orders may be placed here.

The Shops are comprised of colorful boutiques, each offering unique gifts from all over the world, home accessories and collectibles, handcrafted artisan jewelry, arts and crafts, plus creative women’s fashion (such as colorful separates, accessories, bags, wallets and belts). The Kitchen Shop offers vibrant tabletop products and worldwide imported ceramics, as well as unique and quality crafts and folk art from Mexico.

The Bazaar del Mundo Shops and Casa Guadalajara are at the north entrance to Old Town on the corner of Juan and Taylor.

Stay healthy, San Diego!
