Understory Launches Tableside Cocktail Service

Understory, Del Mar’s resident cocktail bar, located within the Del Mar Highland’s Sky Deck, has unveiled the newest addition to their bar program, tableside cocktails.

The drinks aim to elevate a night out with a full craft cocktail experience, offering guests the opportunity to see the elements of their drink come together while chatting with their bartender about the process of making it, the inspiration behind it, and its flavor profile.

The tableside cocktail experience

The tableside cocktail experience will be launching with two cocktail options, each priced at $20:

Jalisco Pine – made with Barrel-Aged Tequila, Elderflower and Rosemary Syrup, Lemon Juice, Cardamom-Infused Angostura Bitters, Rosemary Spice, and Egg White.

Brush Fire – made with Barrel Aged Woodford Reserve Bourbon, Charcoal, Grapefruit, and Jalapeno Syrup, Cardamom Infused Angostura Bitters, Rosemary Spice, and Egg White.

New monthly happenings

In addition to the tableside cocktail program, Understory has recently introduced Martini Mondays every Monday, offering a trio-flight of martinis, including an apple martini, a pomegranate cosmopolitan, and a dirty martini, for $30.

The bar also celebrates Throwback Thursday every second Thursday of the month, with a rotating list of themed-throwback drinks with names like Scrunchie Punch, *69, and Orange Crush, a DJ spinning throwback tunes, and bottle specials on Uncle Ed’s Damn Good Vodka.

Mocktail offerings

For those who don’t want to sit out a night out with friends, but are participating in Dry January, Understory’s menu also features three mocktails. Offerings include the Boisduval Marble, made with Blue Lavender, Black Tea, Fresh Lemon, Kava, and AquaFaba Fizz; the Lustrous Copper, made with Mango Juice, Tamarind, Chili, Lime; and Club Bubbles with a Tajin Rim, and the Crimson Fruitcrow, made with Hibiscus, Lemon, Mint, and Black Tea.

See you there, San Diego!
