Union Kitchen and Tap Opens Third Location in Pacific Beach

OMG Hospitality is bringing elevated dining to the heart of Pacific Beach with the opening of its third location of Union Kitchen and Tap, which has sister locations in the Gaslamp and Encinitas.

Known for its refined and contemporary take on timeless classics, Union Kitchen and Tap offers the best of New American food, local craft beers, wines, and hand-crafted cocktails.

Located on Garnet Ave, just off of Mission Boulevard, the space was previously occupied by Backyard Kitchen & Tap.

The 6,000 square-foot Pacific Beach locale boasts a spacious layout with a lounge-like atmosphere offering indoor and outdoor dining options, a lively main bar with multiple TVs for sports enthusiasts to catch all the big games, and a comfortable lounge space perfect for groups and parties.

Dinner Highlights

  • Shrimp & Grits made with Andouille, roasted tomato, aged white cheddar, Anson Mills grits, and chives
  • Union Gumbo made with Andouille, smoked chicken, orka, and jasmine rice, finished with scallions
  • Watermelon Salad made with heirloom cherry tomato, cucumber, avocado, ricotta salata, arugula, and sherry shallot vinaigrette
  • Prime Steaks including 12 oz Prime New York Strip, 7 oz Filet Mignon, and 18 oz Prime Bone-in Ribeye served with maitre d’ butter and Union Steak Sauce

Additional menu offerings include salads, sides, and decadent desserts such as Aunt Dubo’s Peanut Butter Pie and Molly’s Homemade Carrot Cake.

Brunch Offerings

Brunch is offered Saturdays and Sundays from 10 AM to 2 PM, featuring bottomless mimosas with the purchase of an entrée, including:

  • Skillet Cornbread Benedict with grilled andouille, pouched eggs, roasted orka, and mustard-bacon hollandaise
  • Chicken and Waffle made with a bacon, cheddar, and scallion cornbread waffle, buttermilk fried chicken, and a sunny farm egg, topped with Sriracha-maple glaze
  • Breakfast Flatbread topped with Bechamel, mozzarella, andouille, cherrywood smoked bacon, roasted tomato, sunny farm eggs, chives, and maple syrup
  • Short Rib Breakfast Burrito with beer braised short rib, scrambled eggs, cotija cheese, avocado, french fries, and chipotle cream

The Beverage Program

The Union Kitchen and Tap Pacific Beach beverage program features a selection of draft and canned beers, wines, and craft cocktails. Highlights include:

  • Purple Haze, made with illegal mezcal, ginger liqueur, prickly pear, lime, and sage
  • California Soul, made with Tito’s, lavender, coconut, guava, agave, and lemon
  • Good Vibrations, made with freshly-juiced cucumber, grapefruit, lime, ginger, and your choice of spirit
  • 2 Kool 2 Be 4-Gotten, made with blackberry-infused Bulleit Bourbon, cider, lemon, and cinnamon

Union Kitchen and Tap Pacific Beach is located at 832 Garnet Ave, San Diego. They are closed on Monday and open Tuesday through Friday from 4 PM to 10 PM for dinner and Saturday through Sunday from 10 AM to 2 PM for brunch and 2 PM to 10 PM for dinner.

The bar will remain open every night until 2 AM for cocktails, beer, and wine only. Additional weekly programming includes $1.25 Oysters and $5 shaken martinis from 4 PM to 7 PM on Tuesdays; half-priced wines by the glass and bottle on Wednesdays from 4 PM to 8 PM; live music on Thursdays; and a DJ on Fridays.
