The coffee and bagel spot we’ve been waiting for has officially arrived in Ocean Beach. Spill the Beans just opened their fifth San Diego location, and this one comes with something completely new—their first-ever drive-thru service right at the corner of Newport Avenue and Sunset Cliffs Boulevard.

What Makes This Location Special

We love that Spill the Beans chose Ocean Beach for their drive-thru debut. The 900-square-foot space includes both the convenient drive-thru option and a walk-up window with outdoor seating for about 50 people.

It’s perfect for those mornings when we want to grab coffee on our way to the beach or when we need a quick caffeine fix between surf sessions.

The drive-thru experience sounds pretty chill too—we check in with a team member after entering from Newport Avenue, then enjoy some laid-back tunes while they prepare our order and bring it right to the car. It’s exactly the kind of relaxed service that fits the Ocean Beach vibe.

Those Famous Bagels

Chef Karina Orozco’s bagels have been a Spill the Beans signature since they first opened in the Gaslamp back in 2017. Made with just five simple ingredients and boiled in agave syrup, these aren’t your typical bagels.

They’re larger and softer than most, and the flavor combinations get creative—think Sundried Tomato & Cheese or Bacon & White Cheddar.

The cream cheese situation is where things get really interesting. We’re talking artisan-compounded options like White Truffle & Parmesan, Bananas Foster, and Caramelized Shallot & Chive. They even rotate monthly specials, so there’s always something new to try.

Beyond Bagels

The menu extends well beyond their famous bagels. The San Dieggo sandwich has become a fan favorite with its two over-medium eggs, peppered bacon, double cheese, and cayenne aioli.

For lighter options, they’ve got Chia Berry Bowls and avocado toast, plus heartier lunch items like the B.B.L.(t) when we need something more substantial.

Coffee and More

The drink menu covers all the bases with cold brew, specialty coffee drinks, teas, and juices. They’ve got the trendy options covered too—matcha and chaga for those looking for alternative energy sources. With oat, almond, coconut, and macadamia milk alternatives, everyone can find their perfect cup.

For drive-thru users, remember to enter on Newport Avenue and watch for cross-traffic when exiting—safety first in a busy area like this.

See you there!

Thanks to Spill the Beans, Ocean Beach finally has its drive-thru coffee and bagel spot, perfect for beach days and busy mornings alike.
