Your Guide To This Week’s San Diego Concerts

There may be a few big names and their tributes passing through San Diego this week, but there are some indie acts seeping in through the cracks, too.

Support old favorites, but check out these touring up-and-comers if you can—you’ll be glad you did. After all, they might be old favorites soon enough.

Trouble in the Wind – 3/30

Music Box

Little Italy

After winning San Diego Music Award’s Best Americana Album last week, Trouble in the Wind is celebrating with a show at the Music Box.

A North County band, Trouble in the Wind tends to haunt those upper San Diego County venues, but when the group heads south, it’s anything but trouble.

Catch this critically-acclaimed band while you can.

Kane Strang – 3/31

Soda Bar

City Heights

Kane Strang brings his music all the way from Dunedin, New Zealand. Even though his music comes from a faraway land, Strang hits the same heartstrings that your favorite indie rockers do.

Make sure you catch Kane Strang while he’s stateside.

Badfish – 3/31

The House of Blues

Downtown San Diego

A tribute band to the Southern California phenomenon that was Sublime, Badfish works to capture the lively energy and spirit Sublime brought to its live performances.

Named for one of Sublime’s well-known songs, Badfish tacitly asks the audience with every show, “Tell me, are you a badfish too?”

Queensrÿche – 4/1

Sycuan Casino Showcase Theatre

El Cajon

This heavy metal band out of Bellevue, Washington has been around since 1982. If you haven’t had a chance to see Queensrÿche before now, this is your opportunity.

The group has sold over 20 million albums worldwide, 6 million in the U.S. alone—that many people can’t be wrong. Join the masses. Peer pressure, metal-lovers.

the spirit of the beehive. – 4/1

Ché Café

La Jolla

the spirit of the beehive. brings its low-fi indie rock all the way from Philadelphia for San Diegans to enjoy.

A scuzzier Sonic Youth with more bite than whine, the spirit of the beehive. makes noise rock palatable. Come get a taste.
