Hear Ye! Hear Ye! The Global Winter Wonderland Is Coming To Town!
The Global Winter Wonderland, a holiday celebration that draws 400,000 awe-struck people each year, is coming to San Diego for the first time.
And it’s going to be huge!
This “Circus of Lights” will feature more than 50 life-size structures, with a lot of them being newly designed and constructed just for San Diego.
The large luminescent, hand-crafted lanterns and displays are inspired by international landscapes from around the world, such as the Taj Mahal and Eiffel Tower.
But the event is more than just pretty lights. It’s entertainment, activities, food and shopping all in one giant takeover of SDCCU (formerly Qualcomm) Stadium.
Here’s a sneak peak of what to expect from this wonderland:
- The largest display of traditional Chinese lanterns outside of China
- Cirque du Soleil-style performances
- More than 35 carnival rides
- Holiday-themed activities for kids, such as writing letters to Santa
- International food and shopping
San Diego is the fourth city to host this luminous and extravagant event.
Children will have the chance to take photos with mascot Penny the Penguin, and visit Candyland, Toyland, and the North Pole.
