Bay Views and Summer Vibes at Downtown Skate

The roller skating revival continues in San Diego as Downtown Skate makes its comeback to the Marriott Marquis Marina. After a successful holiday run that had us all nostalgic for simpler times, this outdoor rink is back for a summer stint that promises to be even better than before.

Skating With a View

We can’t think of many places where we can lace up roller skates and glide around with the San Diego Bay sparkling in front of us. The 6,000-square-foot rink takes over the Marina Terrace, creating this surreal experience where we’re skating under palm trees with boats drifting by in the background.

It’s quintessentially San Diego in the best possible way. The location puts us right in the heart of downtown’s best attractions.

Whether we want to grab dinner in the Gaslamp afterward, catch a show at The Rady Shell, or just wander through Seaport Village, everything’s within walking distance. It’s the kind of setup that makes for a perfect day or evening out.

Sweet Treats and Good Beats

Cali Cream is back with another limited-edition flavor created just for Downtown Skate. We loved their holiday collaboration, so we’re curious to see what summer-inspired creation they’ve come up with this time. Having quality ice cream on hand makes perfect sense when we’re working up a sweat on the rink.

The weekend DJ sets add exactly the energy this kind of event needs. Plus, all day on July 4th, we’ll have live music keeping our rhythm while we skate. There’s something magical about good music, ocean views, and the simple joy of rolling around on eight wheels.

July 4th Front Row Seats

Here’s where Downtown Skate gets really special. The rink offers front-row seating for the Big Bay Boom fireworks show on Independence Day.

We can’t imagine a better way to watch San Diego’s massive Fourth of July celebration than from roller skates with the bay spread out in front of us.

The Full Marina Experience

While we’re there, the Marriott’s summer SPLASH weekends will be happening too. The Smoke & Sizzle BBQ hut on the pool deck adds another dining option, and restaurants like Agave Bar & Grill and Marina Kitchen will be open for anyone who wants to make it a longer visit.

Even if we’re not staying at the hotel, we can still enjoy the food and drinks.
