San Diego Art Institute Presents Tendrement: Prepare To Have Your Boundaries Pushed!

San Diego, get ready for a mind-blowing, provocative exhibition from the San Diego Art Institute called Tendrement! a premier regional contemporary art center encouraging innovation among established and emerging artists!

“Tendrement showcases artists that question socially accepted models of normativity. These pieces are uncanny, thought provoking and embody the destruction of regimes of authority while alluding to posthuman ideals,” said Ariana Schindler, Interim Creative Director of San Diego Art Institute and curator of the exhibition. “We chose this theme and these artists in hopes that attendees are inspired to push boundaries and challenge how they exist everyday.”

Push the boundaries is right!

The exhibition navigates a post human environment mired in traces of what once was, with artwork alluding to sentiments of intimacy, nostalgia, pain and identity. Works include sculpture, video, projection mapping, photography and performance.

SDAI invites viewers to explore the tension between subversive and post-apocalyptic aesthetics that populate the collective ethos of underground creators. The outcome is the disintegration of normativity as we look towards the future.

The artworks include sculpture, video, projection mapping, photography and performance.

The pop-up exhibition will feature performance and visual art by many talented artists, including: Carlos Castro Arias, Stinky Brat, Daniel Barron Corrales, Parker Day, Mauro Doñate, Echavox_06668801, Elsoldelrac, Fecal Matter, Luis Pinto, Luis Alonso Sanchez, Stephanie Sarley, S280F and YENTA.

The Party!

The exhibition will kick off on Saturday March 24th with performance art, immersive installations, and an end-of-the-world dance party hosted by Glyph, that includes includes an immersive projection installation by Bryant Semaj and DJ sets by Fecal Matter and Perth Records artists Merca Bae, Perth Daijing and Yegua. So not only will you get artwork alluding to sentiments of intimacy, nostalgia, pain and identity, you’ll also get a bunch of DJs to make the night even cooler!
