Bleu Bohème To Celebrate Sweet 16 With Winemaker Dinner & Bastille Day Specialties
Bleu Bohème, San Diego’s award-winning French restaurant located in Kensington, will celebrate its 16th anniversary with an intimate winemaker’s dinner featuring League of Rogues, then continue with a Bastille Day fête!
Winemaker’s Dinner | July 12
Priced at $125 per person, the winemaker’s dinner will begin at 6PM. and feature five courses created by Executive Chef and Owner Ken Irvine. The experience will highlight a selection of wines from League of Rogues, a small production winery based in Paso Robles, California, and presented by proprietor Jessica Leitch.
Upon arrival, guests will be welcomed with a glass of 2022 Wandering Tortoise Rosé, which will also complement the first course of local bluefin tuna. Sea scallops and goat cheese crêpe will be served for the second course, paired with 2021 Tortured Artist Albariño. The third course, lamb loin and wild mushroom risotto, will be accompanied by 2020 Wild Child Syrah.
Duck breast and Alaskan fingerling potatoes will be paired with 2021 Absent Minded Professor. The dinner will conclude with a dessert course of chocolate, pecan and caramel served with 2018 Rapscallion Reserve Zinfandel. Cases of League of Rogues wine will be available for purchase. Seating for the wine pairing dinner is limited, and reservations can be made on OpenTable.
Bastille Day | July 14
Bleu Bohème’s 16th Anniversary extends to a festive Bastille Day party and will celebrate with half-price champagne cocktails and a selection of featured dishes.
Like Independence Day in the United States, Bastille Day, which commemorates the Storming of the Bastille in 1789 and Fête de la Fédération one year later, is traditionally celebrated with fireworks, cocktails and French cuisine.
Standout champagne cocktails include Kir Royal, with Crème de Cassis; La Brise de la Vallee, with lavender syrup; and Le Saint Germain, with wild elderflower liqueur.
Specialty dishes created in honor of the holiday include pistou soup of summer vegetables and basil, priced at $12.95; an entrée of locally caught bluefin tuna served with pommes puree, green beans and sauce vierge, priced at $45; and crêpes with red and blue seasonal berries, crème fraiche and caramel, priced at $12.95.
