About Chef Phillip Esteban

A San Diego native, Esteban led research and development for CH Projects (Craft & Commerce, Born & Raised) before launching his own project, Open Gym, a nonprofit and creative collective focused on establishing sustainable ecosystems of change within communities through the pillars of food, space, and well-being.

Designed to be a self-sustaining organization, meals, community programs, and resources are funded through revenues from a collection of culinary concepts like Craft Meals Catering.

Several openings are in development for 2021, including White Rice, a Filipino rice bowl food stall located within Liberty Public Market, Wordsmith, a chef-driven retail shop and bookstore, and WellFed, an elevated Filipino restaurant.

Stay healthy, San Diego!
