Bella Vita Fest Brings Italian Culture to Little Italy’s Streets
Bella Vita Fest 2025 is taking over Little Italy, and we’re already planning our Saturday afternoon around wine tastings and pizza slice-offs.
This free festival celebrates Italian Heritage Month with everything from street chalk art to authentic Italian wines, all happening right in the heart of one of our favorite neighborhoods.
The Pizza Slice-Off Is Everything
New for 2025, the Pizza Slice-Off lets us taste our way through some of Little Italy’s best pizza spots and actually vote on the winner. There’s something pretty perfect about having a pizza competition in Little Italy—it’s like the neighborhood was made for this exact moment.
Plus, there’s both a people’s choice winner and a separate expert judge winner, so we get to play food critic for the day.
Wine Tasting in the Giardino del Vino
The wine situation is legit—over 10 different wines from various Italian regions with 5 and 10-taste ticket options. Italian winemakers will be there offering tastings through Vicolo del Vino, so we’re talking about the real deal, not just bottles grabbed from the grocery store.
It’s basically a mini tour of Italy’s wine regions without leaving San Diego.
Street Art Meets Italian Tradition
More than 40 expert chalk artists will be lining the streets, creating Italian-themed artwork right before our eyes. This isn’t just random street art—it’s connected to the 16th-century Italian tradition of Madonnari, traveling artists who would recreate cathedral paintings on pavement.
There’s something magical about watching temporary art come to life on asphalt, especially when it’s rooted in centuries of Italian culture.
La Cucina Galbani and Live Music
The La Cucina Galbani Cooking Stage adds another layer to the whole experience, with Italian merchants and authentic food for purchase throughout the festival. Live Italian music will be playing, creating that perfect soundtrack while we wander between wine tastings and chalk art installations.
Free Family Fun
The best part? The festival itself is completely free to attend. Wine tastings and pizza experiences are ticketed separately, but families can come enjoy the chalk art, music, and general Italian vibes without spending anything. It’s the kind of community event that makes Little Italy feel even more special than it already does.
