A.I.M By Kyle Abraham Brings New York To San Diego
“One of the most consistently excellent troupes working today” (New York Times), A.I.M’s (Abraham.In.Motion) kicks off ArtPower’s 2022 live performances on February 2nd with their latest work, An Untitled Love.
Drawing from the catalogue of Grammy Award-winning R&B legend D’Angelo, this creative exaltation pays homage to the complexities of self-love and Black love, while serving as a thumping mixtape celebrating our culture, family, and community.
“…best and brightest creative talent”
Born into hip-hop culture in the late 1970s and grounded in Kyle Abraham’s artistic upbringing in classical cello, piano, and the visual arts, the goal of the A.I.M is to delve into identity in relation to a personal history. The mission of the movement is to create an evocative interdisciplinary body of work.
A.I.M is a representation of dancers from various disciplines and diverse personal backgrounds. Combined together, these individualities create movement that is manipulated and molded into something fresh and unique. Out Magazine proclaims Abraham as “the best and brightest creative talent to emerge in New York City in the age of Obama.”
