La Jolla Music Society (LJMS) has announced the company’s 56th annual Winter Season, filled with both superstars and talents on the rise, from opera and dance luminaries to world music giants and the brightest stars of classical music.

Returning are audience favorites Emanuel Ax, Chris Botti, Joyce DiDonato, Zakir Hussain, Wynton Marsalis, Sheku Kanneh-Mason, Gil Shaham, Kodo, Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain, Abel Selaocoe, a powerhouse trio of Anne-Sophie Mutter, Pablo Ferrández, and Yefim Bronfman, and many more.

The Dance Series will see milestone performances by the companies of two pioneers of modern dance, Marth Graham and Twyla Tharp, on tour for their 100-year and 60-year anniversaries, respectively.

“With the opening of The Conrad, our ability to serve the greater San Diego community has grown exponentially,” says LJMS President and CEO Todd Schultz. “That has given our Artistic Director, Leah Rosenthal, the ability to increase the breadth and diversity of our programming.”

“Her expertise in attracting great artists, as well as identifying young artists on the cusp of major careers, has led to planning another terrific Winter Season that will attract both longtime LJMS patrons and those discovering us and The Conrad for the first time.”

In all, the 2024–25 Winter Season offers 67 performances. Of the artists, more than half are LJMS debuts, with many also San Diego or regional debuts.

The majority of the events will be held at The Conrad, in either The Baker-Baum Concert Hall or The JAI. In addition, the company’s commitment to presenting great artists at off-site venues continues, with seven shows held at the Balboa Theatre and one each at the Civic Theatre, St. James by-the-Sea Episcopal Church, and the newly renovated Jacobs Music Center.
