Spring is in Full Bloom at the Coronado Flower Show

Spring in Coronado means one thing – the beloved Coronado Flower Show is back, and this year it’s introducing an exciting new addition. The 104th Annual Coronado Flower Show is unveiling “Events in the Tents,” a dedicated space for hands-on learning, creative workshops, and community connection at Spreckels Park.

As the largest tented flower show in the United States, this cherished tradition has been bringing floral beauty and horticultural inspiration to the community since 1922. The new educational showcase builds on that legacy by giving us a welcoming place to learn, create, and engage with the art of gardening and floral design.

A New Space for Learning and Creativity

“Events in the Tents” formalizes the educational spirit that has long been part of the show. For the first time, learning opportunities will have their own space and schedule, inviting everyone – from curious beginners to seasoned gardeners – to step in and participate.

This initiative aims to inspire new generations while celebrating the traditions that have kept the show thriving for more than a century.

What to Expect Inside the Tents

The program offers a variety of interactive and educational experiences designed to engage all ages:

  • “Rise & Bloom” Wellness Experience: A community-centered morning gathering that sets a peaceful tone for the day.
  • Division Spotlights: Learn directly from division chairs about categories, judging criteria, and what it takes to earn a coveted blue ribbon.
  • Hands-On Workshops: Participate in sessions such as bonsai basics, rose pruning, table design, petites, shadow boxes, and phone photography.
  • Nonprofit Partner Education: Community organizations share insights and resources through integrated learning segments.
  • Family Programming: Activities designed to introduce younger generations to gardening and floral traditions.

A Beloved Coronado Tradition

Beyond the new educational programming, the weekend celebration features judged floral arrangements, horticultural displays, live entertainment on the bandstand, local food vendors, artisan shopping, and a lively beer and wine garden showcasing locally crafted beverages.

The festivities begin with a family-friendly movie night, setting the tone for a weekend filled with color and community spirit.

With the 2026 theme “Welcome to the Jungle,” the show promises an immersive experience that honors its rich history while embracing fresh ideas.

See you there!

Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just in it for the tulip pics, the Coronado Flower Show offers a weekend of creativity, education, and community connection.
