Come Join the 34th AIDS Walk & Run San Diego
Attendees are invited to once again register and fund-raise to support HIV prevention and treatment in the San Diego region. The event will also feature live music, a memorial to those lost to HIV/AIDS, and an opportunity to celebrate top fundraisers. Funds from this year’s event will support 11 local HIV/AIDS service providers.
The Final Walk
While this year’s event marks the final traditional AIDS Walk & Run that the organization will be hosting, next year will bring a new, inclusive program that aims to reach more San Diegans through both community education and empowerment to help break the stigma around living with HIV.
In a little over three decades, HIV/AIDS has changed from a death sentence to a condition that is manageable through medication and preventative treatments. Events like this helped fund San Diego’s most influential HIV/AIDS service providers, programs and services that helped make this shift possible.
Along with celebrating the progress made in fighting HIV/AIDS, AIDS Walk & Run San Diego remembers the lives of the thousands of San Diegans lost to AIDS, a condition once intentionally ignored by policymakers and public health officials. Now, in a world where the conversation has shifted toward prevention and treatment, thousands more San Diegans with HIV are able to lead full, thriving lives.
