Progressive Hedonist: A Sustainable Culinary Experience With Dana Cowin and 31ThirtyOne
Dana Cowin, with her 21-year reign as the Editor-in-Chief of Food & Wine magazine, completely revolutionized the culinary media landscape. Now, with the launch of her latest project, Progressive Hedonist, she’s bridging the gap between sustainability and food culture, making her one of the most influential figures in both food and media.
Dana is setting out on a journey to inspire millions to take action to help heal the planet through enlightening events and discussions around the country. On Saturday, May 4, Dana is partnering with Drew & Paulina Deckman of 31ThirtyOne to bring Progressive Hedonist to San Diego.
The trio will host a charitable dining event that spotlights influencers in culinary and agricultural sustainability while giving you an exclusive preview of 31ThirtyOne’s highly anticipated restaurant opening this summer.
Upon arrival, enjoy a cocktail hour and tasting stations highlighting the work of local farmers, cheesemakers, and fishermen, including Stehly Farms Organics, Jack Ford of TAJ Farms, and Tommy Gomes of Tunaville Market and host of “The Fishmonger Show.”
Dana Cowin will lead a meaningful conversation, offering unique perspectives on how we interact with and think about food. The afternoon will culminate in a four-course menu by Chef Deckman paired with Baja female-owned wineries to spotlight the women leading Mexico’s sustainable winemaking revolution.
Renowned winemakers in attendance will include Lourdes “Lulu” Martinez Ojeda of Bruma Winery, Natalia Badan of Mogor Badan Winery, and Kristin Magnussen of Lechuza Winery.
A portion of proceeds from the event will benefit international non-profit ZeroFoodprint and its mission to combat climate change by rallying the food and beverage industry in support of regenerative agriculture, as well as San Diego-based Foodshed, a farmer-owned cooperative cultivating an equitable food system.
