Casetta Hotels Bringing New Life to Historic Gems in 2025

San Diego, our favorite boutique hotel collection is about to make some serious waves in the hospitality scene. Casetta, the masterminds behind our beloved Pearl Hotel in Point Loma, are expanding their reach with three jaw-dropping new properties set to open in early 2025.

We’re already planning our getaways, and you might want to do the same.

From Church to Chic: LA’s Hottest New Hotel

Hotel Lucile in LA’s uber-cool Silver Lake neighborhood is first on our radar. This 1931 church is transforming into a 25-room boutique hotel. We’re talking stained glass windows, soaring ceilings, and a restaurant in the old chapel.

The real showstopper? A rooftop lounge with killer city views. It’s giving us major “treat yourself” vibes for a quick weekend escape.

With its prime location at the intersection of Griffith Boulevard and Lucile Avenue, we’re betting this spot will become the new go-to for LA’s creative crowd.

Mountain Magic Meets Lakeside Luxury

Next, we’re setting our sights on the mountains. Hotel Marina Riviera in Big Bear is getting a major glow-up. This 1968 gem is embracing its vintage ski lodge roots while adding all the modern touches we crave.

Think cozy rooms with lake views, standalone cabins for group trips, and a brand-new restaurant that’ll make you forget all about cooking on vacation.

Our advice? Book early for prime ski season spots. With 42 guest rooms and six two-bedroom cabins, it’s perfect for everything from romantic getaways to full-on family reunions. The lakeside lawn and private deck are calling our names for summer weddings and epic Fourth of July parties.

Desert Dreams in Taos

Rounding out the trio is Hotel Willa in Taos, New Mexico. This former 1960s motel is getting the full Casetta treatment—51 rooms decked out in warm Southwestern style, complete with local art and those classic adobe vibes.

The best part? An on-site restaurant sourcing ingredients from their own garden. It’s farm-to-table goals come to life. We’re already imagining ourselves lounging by the pool, soaking in the hot tub, and stargazing from their deck.

Art lovers, take note: they’re partnering with The Paseo Project for pop-up events and an Artist in Residency program.

Casetta Hotels: Where History Meets Modern Hospitality

All three of these Casetta Hotels are set to open in the first few months of 2025. Can’t wait that long? Remember that our own Pearl Hotel in Point Loma just got a fresh update with their new Ponyboy restaurant and bar. Weekend staycation, anyone?

What we love most about Casetta is their knack for breathing new life into historic buildings. They’re not just slapping on a coat of paint and calling it a day. These folks are preserving the soul of each property while adding modern luxuries we didn’t even know we needed.

Plus, they’re big on sustainability—think solar power, on-site gardens, and partnerships with eco-friendly organizations.

For the real hotel enthusiasts out there, Casetta offers a membership program that gets you perks like discounts, room upgrades, and early check-in. They’ve even got a membership for four-legged travelers. Now that’s what we call hospitality!
