Enjoy Movies Under the Stars the Whole Month at Rooftop Cinema Club

Rooftop Cinema Club at Porto Vista Hotel in Little Italy has dropped its May lineup, and if you’re looking for a reason to get outside this month, this is it. We’re talking over 80 films across five weekends, with sweeping views of San Diego Bay as your backdrop – and a calendar full of themed events and special nights worth planning around.

The May Lineup

Beyond just showing movies, Rooftop Cinema Club has stacked May with themed events worth planning around.

There’s a Star Wars double feature on May 2 with Episode IV – A New Hope and Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (separate admission required), a live F1 Miami Grand Prix stream on May 3, and a Gilmore Girls three-episode mini-marathon on May 12.

Rounding out the special events: a Girls Gone Mild book bedazzling party on May 17 set against The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, and a Comedy Lovers Singles Night mix-and-mingle on May 28 before a screening of There’s Something About Mary.

Mother’s Day Weekend is programmed with mom in mind – Pretty Woman, Mamma Mia!, Mamma Mia!: Here We Go Again, La La Land, and The Notebook are all part of the weekend slate.

Several screenings also offer both English and Spanish soundtracks, with open captions available for When Harry Met Sally on May 5 and Wicked on May 24.

Family and Lilo & Stitch Matinee

May 2 kicks off with an all-ages matinee screening of Lilo and Stitch. Before the film, kids get a hands-on arts and crafts activity inspired by Hawaiian island culture and a mini hula lesson. A solid way to spend a Saturday afternoon with the family.

Wooftop Screenings

A handful of screenings throughout May are dog-friendly. Bring the pup for Mean Girls on May 1, Mamma Mia! on May 9, Zootopia 2 on May 16, The Sandlot on May 23, and Goat on May 31.
