Move Your Feet for Free at Salsa Under the Stars

There’s something about dancing outdoors on a warm summer evening that’s hard to match.

Chula Vista’s Otay Ranch Town Center is bringing that feeling back with the return of Salsa Under the Stars – one of the area’s most popular free summer traditions, pairing energetic live Latin music with an open invitation for anyone to hit the floor.

A Night Out at the Farmers Market

The series runs on select evenings inside Otay Ranch Town Center, right alongside the center’s popular weekly Farmers Market. Whether you come to browse the stalls, grab something to eat, or dance, there’s a good chance you’ll end up doing all three.

It’s the kind of combination that makes for a full evening out – the type where you didn’t plan to stay long and suddenly the sun has gone down and you’re still moving.

The Manny Cepeda Orchestra Takes the Stage

At the heart of every session is the Manny Cepeda Orchestra, the top classic salsa band in San Diego County. Bandleader Manny Cepeda was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and holds a Bachelor’s in Music Education and a Master’s in Music.

He retired from the U.S. Navy as the top Enlisted Bandmaster after 31 years of service before founding the orchestra in 2004, and the group has been delivering standout performances across the county ever since.

No Partner? No Problem.

Basic instruction is included in each session, so newcomers can find their footing right alongside seasoned dancers. All skill levels are welcome, no partner is needed, and there’s zero pressure to perform. Whether you’ve been dancing salsa for years or have never given it a shot, you’ll fit right in.

One special session is dedicated to the Annual Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration, running on slightly adjusted hours – a fitting and meaningful close to the summer series.
