Hear The Phantom of the Opera Live Under the Stars in Balboa Park
A little Halloween music in Balboa Park? Why not. The Spreckels Organ Pavilion is bringing The Phantom of the Opera to life this October, and it’s free.
As part of its Halloween Spooktacular, the pavilion hosts a concert version of the musical with spooky lights, eerie projections, and plenty of dramatic organ music. Come in costume and make a night of it.

Listen as the Organ Brings Phantom to Life
San Diego Civic Organist Raúl Prieto Ramírez is joined by soprano Caroline Nelms and tenor Cole Tornberg for a concert version of the musical.
He’ll also perform thrilling organ solos that fill Balboa Park’s open-air venue. Ramírez has been San Diego’s Civic Organist since 2018, and with the soaring voices of Nelms and Tornberg, it’s a dramatic night of music that suits the season.
Spooky Lights and Eerie Projections
The Pavilion gets a Halloween makeover with spooky lights and eerie projections on its front, which adds to the atmosphere. Settle in under the night sky and let the music do the rest.
With the glowing Pavilion as your backdrop, the dramatic organ and soaring vocals feel even more fitting for the season. It’s a great setting for Halloween weekend, and a great excuse to get out and enjoy Balboa Park after dark.
Dress Up and Pose With the Artists
You’re encouraged to come dressed in costume, and after the concert you can take a photo on stage with the artists. Bring your best Phantom look, or any costume you like, and get a keepsake from the evening.
Whether you go classic with a mask or get creative with your own spooky style, you’ll fit right in with the Halloween spirit. It’s a fun way to celebrate with friends and family and take home a memory from a one-of-a-kind night.
See you there!
A free concert, spooky lights, and a chance to pose with the artists make this a Halloween event worth planning your weekend around.
