Your Guide To This Week’s North County Concerts
Blues, jazz…and hip hop?
North County is mixing up the usual rock bands with a hip hop showcase. Stick with what you’re used to or venture into different pastures—whether you’re normally a headbanger or a hip hop junkie—the choice is yours.

San Diego County Fair
Del Mar
Multi-lingual jazz vocalist Allison Adams Tucker is well-educated: she has a BA in Linguistics / Music Vocal Performance and an AA in Italian.
Tucker is also a talent that has entered interactive media. She lent her vocals to the video game The Saboteur’s soundtrack on which she sings French jazz.
If you like your music in varying tongues, Tucker is for you.
Tijuana Panthers – 6/30

The Belly Up
Solana Beach
Jangly old rock ‘n’ roll meets melodic punk vocals in the form of Tijuana Panthers.
With a driving bass holding it all together, it’s hard to tell if this is Americana punk or garage indie. Any which way you cut it, Tijuana Panthers are good.
Loom – 7/1

Pour House
Oceanside
How does heavy psychedelic blues sound to you? ‘Cause it sounds like a winning combination to us. Luckily, Loom is looming over Pour House with the presence of a more dangerous Allman Brothers Band. Think: if Jimi Hendrix played for Deep Purple.
If you’ve always believed that the blues needed more acid or that the summer of love needed more grit, then Loom is just your ticket.
