American Pizza Mfg. Makes La Jolla Debut

American Pizza Mfg. (APM), a new San Diego-based restaurant concept that elevates the dining-in experience with fresh, handmade pizzas, pastas and more, all made to bake-at-home in mere minutes, provides today’s busy families homemade quality meals and bites that require no prep, little planning and a respite from cooking or standard take out.

Born in SD

APM is the brainchild of local entrepreneur, Andrew Melone, who has long appreciated the convenience and quality of a bake-at-home concept focused on flavor, freshness, ease, and making the art of gathering at-home for family meals a stress-free and more delicious habit.

At APM, a carefully crafted menu of signature pizzas, pastas, salads, and desserts is made to order using fresh, quality ingredients such as hand-grated whole milk mozzarella, spicy fennel-infused pepperoni, homemade ruby red sauce, house-made Bolognese, handmade pasta and much more.

Each dish is assembled and prepped by hand – never frozen – and ready to take for baking at home with specific instructions – an average of 10-15 minutes – for a delicious finish, every time.

Have fun building your own pizza!

APM’s menu features a custom build-your-own pizza menu alongside seven signature options – all available in 12″ or 14″ sizes – including:

The Edsel, topped with EVOO, mozzarella, and an earthy mixture of wild mushrooms finished with roasted garlic and a truffle oil drizzle.

The Levi, made with grilled chicken tossed in a honey-based BBQ sauce, sweet caramelized onion, asiago cheese, and fresh-cut sage.

The Cutie Pie is a one-topping mini 10″ cheese pizza for the kids and the Cutie Pie Kit features the makings for the five DIY mini pizzas, perfect for parties or special at-home celebrations.

Pizzas are available on your choice of a simple, four-ingredient regular wheat, gluten-free or Cali-flour crust with a base of homemade ruby red tomato sauce or extra virgin olive oil.

Pasta and salad are in the house, too!

On the simple house-made pasta menu, a classic Lasagna 101 feeds four with homemade Bolognese and a ricotta and mozzarella blend layered on sheets of light, pillowy pasta and the Mack N’ Cheese is a family staple made with oversized elbow basta, gruyere, sharp cheddar, smoked paprika and zesty breadcrumbs.

Four fresh salad options make a light, always fresh accompaniment or personal main course and a homestyle, 10″ scratch-made, bake-at-home Giant Cookie – loaded with chocolate chips – tops the dessert menu with a rotating selection of ice cream pints carefully hand-dipped for APM by Encinitas-based Jojo’s Creamery. Seasonal pizza and pasta menus will also be available throughout the year.

American Pizza Mfg. Makes La Jolla Debut

Industrial, vintage style

APM sits three blocks from the beach on La Jolla Blvd in a 1,700 square foot space newly-designed with an eye for 1930s-1950s classic American industrial style. Hand-painted murals adorn the walls and floors, vintage industrial lighting illuminates the space and a mix of natural woods, concrete and steel all lend to the warm but unmistakably industrial aesthetic.

A giant bright red mixer, dubbed Big Red, commands the space where guests can watch the APM crew at work and a roll-up takeout window makes cash-less pick up easy, safe and convenient. Ordering is made simple by phone, online or in-person with a signature, one-touch APM app in development for a future launch. Local La Jolla delivery will also be available soon via a Tesla-powered 1964 Ford pick-up, affectionately dubbed “The Old Man” by Melone and the APM crew.

American Pizza Mfg is located at 7402 La Jolla Blvd and opens to the public on July 22, 2020 with Tuesday-Sunday service from 3:00PM-8:30pm. Follow along on Instagram or visit their website here.
