Three Dynamic Collaborations Take Center Stage

This year’s recipients showcase the diversity and innovation that makes Arts District Liberty Station San Diego’s leading arts and culture hub.

San Diego Craft Collective, Visions Museum of Textile Art, and Apt 4 Music will each partner with fellow district businesses to produce cross-disciplinary events designed to spark dialogue, inspire creativity, and strengthen our cultural community.

The program’s emphasis on collaboration creates experiences that individual organizations couldn’t achieve alone, resulting in fresh perspectives and unexpected artistic connections.

Fiber Fest Celebrates Sustainable Textiles

Fiber Fest brings together San Diego Craft Collective, Apricot Yarn & Supply, and Visions Museum of Textile Art for a three-day celebration of natural textiles and sustainability.

The weekend kicks off with a Sit & Stitch and Fiber & Fabric Swap, continues with live demonstrations and interactive crafting stations, and concludes with skill-building workshops.

The event traces the complete journey from shearing to finished fabric, offering hands-on experiences for seasoned fiber artists and curious newcomers alike.

Make Music Day Goes Interactive

Apt 4 Music’s Annual International Make Music Day on the North Promenade features the centerpiece Musical Playground, built by San Diego Craft Collective using upcycled materials. This interactive sound space includes drums, chimes, and xylophones designed for all ages.

Tribute band The Red NOT Chili Peppers headlines this free, family-friendly celebration that encourages hands-on exploration of sound, rhythm, and collaboration.

Stitching Stories Blends Poetry and Textile Art

The collaboration “Stitching Stories: What is Home?” unites Visions Museum of Textile Art and San Diego Writers, Ink for an innovative two-workshop series. Participants explore the concept of “home” through guided writing sessions that transform into textile art pieces, creating fabric-based narratives for exhibition.

The multimedia approach includes video performances of written pieces, adding auditory layers to the visual storytelling experience.
