Step Inside The Bar at the Beau—Gaslamp’s Newest Gem With a Storied Past

There’s a new reason to linger in the Gaslamp—and it’s got all the charm, character, and cocktails you could want. The Bar at the Beau will soon open its doors, welcoming us into a moody, restored space steeped in San Diego history and elevated hospitality.

The Bar at the Beau

Where History Meets Hospitality

Tucked inside The Beau Hotel (formerly the historic Leland Hotel), the space carries over 130 years of stories—including stints as the Beaumanor and a Prohibition-era speakeasy.

Today, the original 1886 bar still stands, now paired with dark finishes, moody ambiance, and a modern menu that nods to the past while pushing things forward.

The Beau Gaslamp Quarter

Comfort Food, Elevated

The all-day menu from Executive Chef Robin James offers thoughtful takes on American comfort classics—think Duck Pot Pie, Braised Pork Shank, chilled English Pea Soup, and Whole Roasted Branzino.

Shareable plates, like Beef Cheek with crispy chickpeas and fresh oysters, round things out, while desserts like the Beau Sundae bring a playful finish.

Cocktails That Tell a Story

Crafted with care and a hint of nostalgia, the drinks are just as memorable. Sip an 1886 Old Fashioned at the original bar, or try the lavender-laced Beau Bloom or bold espresso martini, the Night Porter. Each cocktail celebrates the spirit of this storied spot.

Led by Vision and Heart

With Brandi Evans at the helm of daily operations and historic preservationist Cathy Herrick behind the vision, The Bar at the Beau isn’t just a beautiful new spot—it’s a love letter to San Diego’s past, served with a side of exceptional hospitality.
