The California Family Halloween Hike & Seek Challenge

Looking for an alternative to Trick-or-Treating this year?

Parents need something to do with their kids on Halloween while also keeping them safe. Here’s a free, easy option that you can do in any neighborhood!

A creative alternative for families to get outside and explore their local parks, neighborhoods and favorite trials this October is the “California Family Halloween Hike & Seek” checklist challenge. Parents can visit the Hike & Seek website, download the checklist and get hiking with the kids to cross items off the checklist.

Challenges include:

Strike your best zombie pose in front of your local park sign
Spot some spider webs
Find a creeping cat
Attend REI Day with PORTS on Oct. 21 and more!

Families can even share their experiences and photos of their adventures with the REI community on REI Conversations. The Hike & Seek checklist activity starts now and runs through the end of October – with a special sweepstakes from REI – and is a REI Co-op, Parks California and California State Parks PORTS® collaboration.

See you there….and stay healthy, San Diego!
