Authentic Hawaiian Magic at Catamaran Resort This Summer

The islands are calling, and you don’t need a plane ticket to answer. Catamaran Resort’s legendary Sunset Luaus on the Bay return, bringing authentic Hawaiian culture and unforgettable entertainment to Mission Bay’s shores for another spectacular summer season.

Thursday Night Tradition That Never Gets Old

Running now through August 28, these luaus have become a San Diego summer staple for good reason. The combination of an all-you-can-eat Hawaiian buffet, live island music, and the mesmerizing Pride of Polynesia hula dancers creates an atmosphere that transports you straight to the Pacific islands without leaving our beautiful bay.

The evening reaches its peak with fiery torch performers and a confetti-erupting volcano that delights guests of all ages. Everyone receives a fresh lei and tropical Mai Tai upon arrival, while kids get special activity bags to keep them engaged throughout the celebration.

VIP Treatment Worth Considering

The Kahuna VIP experience elevates the evening with reserved seating close to the stage, a souvenir cup to take home, welcome appetizers, and exclusive meet-and-greet opportunities with the performers. It’s the perfect upgrade for special occasions or when you want to fully immerse yourself in the island experience.

Island Activities All Week Long

The Polynesian celebration extends beyond Thursday nights. Tuesdays feature the Traditions of Polynesia show with drums, torch lighting, and hula dancing right on Mission Bay’s shores.

The complimentary Keiki Club offers Hawaiian-inspired arts and crafts for young ones, while Tuesday and Thursday hula lessons let adults try their hand at this beautiful art form.

Fresh flower lei making sessions add an authentic touch for just $20, and the daily Bird Encounter and Bird Show at 3 PM creates a real-life outdoor enchanted tiki room experience with colorful talking parrots.

Mission Bay’s Tropical Escape

There’s something magical about watching the sunset over Mission Bay while surrounded by the sounds, flavors, and spirit of Polynesia. The Catamaran Resort has perfected this experience over the years, creating a weekly tradition that brings our community together in celebration of island culture.
