CH Projects’ Lafayette Hotel Scores Two Orchid Awards
We’re raising a toast to The Lafayette Hotel, which just snagged not one but two Orchid Awards (recognizing and celebrating the best architecture and design in our region) from the San Diego Architectural Foundation.
This stylish spot scored top honors in Historic Preservation and Architectural Lighting, proving that old-school cool is always in fashion.
After a $31 million makeover, The Lafayette reopened last summer, and boy, did CH Projects knock it out of the park. They’ve managed to keep the hotel’s vintage Hollywood charm while giving it a modern twist.
With seven spots to grab a bite or a drink, 139 rooms, and that iconic pool, it’s like stepping into a glamorous time machine.
What makes The Lafayette special? It’s all about the details.
The design team went all out to mix original elements with fresh ideas, creating a timeless vibe that’s hard to pin down to any specific era.
Fun fact: The Lafayette is the only hotel built in the U.S. during World War II.
CH Projects: The Orchid Collectors
These CH Projects Orchid Awards aren’t their first rodeo. They’ve got quite the collection, with past wins for spots like Part Time Lover, Raised by Wolves, Morning Glory, and Seneca. It’s clear these folks know a thing or two about creating spaces that wow.
Coming Soon: Baby Grand in Coronado
CH Projects isn’t done yet. They’re gearing up to open Baby Grand, a cozy 31-room hotel in Coronado, set to debut in early 2025. Here’s the scoop:
Baby Grand will be nestled in Coronado’s historic town center, it’s just a hop, skip, and a jump from the legendary Hotel Del Coronado and Coronado Beach. They’re teaming up again with Brooklyn’s Post Company, the same folks who helped make The Lafayette shine.
The hotel will include three new restaurant concepts, including an outdoor spot that’ll have you dining under the stars.
See You There!
The Lafayette Hotel is open now at 2223 El Cajon Blvd, San Diego. Swing by to see what all the fuss is about—those Orchid Awards don’t lie! More info on the website here.
As for Baby Grand, we’ll have to wait until early 2025 to check it out. But with CH Projects’ track record, we’re betting it’ll be worth the wait. Keep an eye on their website here for updates, and get ready to experience Coronado in a whole new way.
See you there, San Diego!
