OMA Presents “Coastal Exposures: 10 Years of Photography at The Osider Magazine”

The Oceanside Museum of Art is proud to announce its upcoming exhibition showcasing a decade of extraordinary photography that captures the essence of Oceanside’s vibrant community!

Coastal Exposures Exhibition at Oceanside Museum of Art

For more than ten years, The Osider Magazine, a photography-based print publication, has been telling the stories of the local Oceanside community.

Co-founder and seasoned professional photographer, Zach Cordner, has handpicked the most outstanding and unique images of Oceanside from the publication for this exhibition showcasing the true essence of the community: “Coastal Exposures: 10 Years of Photography at The Osider Magazine.”

Celebrating A Decade of Oceanside Through the Lens

The exhibition celebrates the exceptional work of a diverse group of local photographers who have captured the city’s evolving beauty and seaside charm.

The Osider Magazine is often likened to Oceanside’s own National Geographic, offering a window into the city’s rich tapestry of cultures and environments.

This exhibition features images that go beyond traditional sunsets at the pier, capturing the emotions and dynamic changes of an evolving city. The showcased photographs are preserved moments that highlight the brilliance of Oceanside over the past decade.

Special Features in Coastal Exposures Exhibition

The exhibition features a vast array of imagery from Oceanside’s own photojournalists, plus two special sections:

Section 1: “Bruce the Trench Coat Guy: Oceanside’s Old Man and the Sea”

The exhibition will feature a gallery dedicated to Bruce Parker, a retired USPS letter carrier turned local icon. Known for his signature black trench coat and joyous encounters with the sea, Bruce has become a celebrated figure along The Strand.

The gallery features an array of photographs from local photographers who have captured Bruce’s unique spirit. This collection honors a man who embodies the quirky charm of Oceanside.

Section 2: “Pirate Pics: 10 Years of Oceanside High School’s Photography Club”

“Pirate Pics” showcases a decade of exceptional photography by students from Oceanside High School’s (OHS) Pirate Pics photography club.

Co-founded by Zach Cordner and OHS Photography Instructor Paul Ruez in 2014, the club provides students with hands-on experience in professional photography and photojournalism.

Now in its tenth year, Pirate Pics is led by Zach and OHS Photography Instructor Justin Moodie and offers students the chance to learn the ins and outs of photography while using Oceanside as their backdrop.

This gallery celebrates the students’ perspective of Oceanside, featuring their best works, many of which have been featured in The Osider Magazine.
