Watch Films Under the Stars at Coastal Roots Farm This Summer

If you’re looking for a summer night out that goes a little deeper than the usual scene, Coastal Roots Farm in Encinitas has something worth putting on your calendar.

Their 2026 Farm Film & Music Series brings together documentary films, live music, and community conversations in one of the most unique outdoor settings in North County.

Farm Film and Music Series

A Night on the Farm

The experience kicks off before the film even starts. Each event opens with live music, mingling, and a chance to connect with local organizations tied to the evening’s theme.

Then it flows into the screening, followed by a panel discussion with activists, scientists, farmers, and community leaders. Bring your own blanket, lawn chair, and a picnic spread – the Farm encourages it.

Farm Film and Music Series

Films of the Season

The series runs four Thursdays through the summer, with each screening featuring a documentary focused on environmental and food justice themes. The first film up is Groundswell – winner of the Golden Globe Prize for Documentary at Cannes and produced by the team behind Kiss the Ground and Common Ground.

It’s a look at how communities around the world are using regenerative agriculture to rebuild ecosystems and fight climate change. Future dates are July 23 (film TBA), August 27, and September 24.
