Comic-Con Museum Named “Best Pop Culture Museum” By USA Today

San Diego Comic Convention’s Comic-Con Museum is the winner of the Best Pop Culture Museum category in the 2023 USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards. The contest featured prominent museums from across the U.S., with winners determined by popular vote from members of the public.

Comic-Con Museum wins Best Pop Culture Museum

“Comic-Con and Comic-Con Museum have one of the most loyal fan bases and we are beyond thankful for their support,” said Executive Director Rita Vandergaw. “We are eager to continue producing interactive and quality exhibits for the public, including our current hands-on Animation Academy.”

The nominees for each category were carefully selected by a panel of experts, which included editors from USA TODAY, editors from 10Best.com and other relevant contributors. The 10Best Readers’ Choice Award contest is highly regarded in the travel industry, and this year’s competition saw tens of thousands of votes cast by members of the public. Current exhibits

Current Comic-Con Museum exhibits include “The Animation Academy – from Pencils to Pixels,” which invites visitors to explore the world of cartoons and animated characters. With over 20 interactive stations, this expansive exhibit provides a unique behind-the-scenes look at how some of the most beloved animated shows are created.

The Museum is also featuring “Cover Story: Five Decades of Comic-Con,” which celebrates the history of the world famous convention through the covers of its souvenir books. This exhibit offers a visual tour of the evolution of Comic-Con cover art and features works from a veritable who’s who of the comics world.

Museum Membership and Tickets

The best way to enjoy the museum is with a membership to experience the magic of Comic-Con year-round. Memberships include unlimited admission, special events, exclusive merchandise and more. Check out the new membership levels here, starting at $75 for an individual and $180 for a family of four.

The museum is open from 10AM to 5PM, Tuesday through Sunday, with the last entry at 4 p.m. Standard admission is $25 (adults ages 18-plus); children (ages 6-12) are $12; and seniors (65+), juniors (13-17) and military are $18. Children five and under are free. Tickets can be purchased in advance here.
