Common Theory Public House Announces Chef Jonathan Bautista As Head Of Culinary Operations

Common Theory Public House has announced that renowned Chef Jonathan Bautista has been named Head of Culinary Operations of the wildly popular Convoy District craft beer pub and eatery.

In addition, Chef Bautista will also lead the food program at Realm of the 52 Remedies, the adjoining opulent nightspot serving craft cocktails and small plates inspired by the flavors, unique ingredients, and artistry of the Far East.

A Seasoned Veteran

A seasoned San Diego culinary veteran, Chef Bautista most recently served at the helm of all three levels of George’s at the Cove, including its fine dining restaurant California Modern under the wing of Executive Chef/Partner Trey Foshee. Prior to George’s, he spent five years with Roy’s Restaurant group and three years at L’Auberge Del Mar, where he was chef de cuisine at Kitchen 1540.

Chef Bautista plans to integrate his impeccable skill and extensive experience in the world of fine dining and hospitality to further elevate Common Theory’s eclectic and culturally-inspired pub fare.

Additional New Menu

New additions to the menu include items like the Szechuan Hot-Fried Chicken Sandwich with fermented pear slaw, sweet pickle, and kaffir lime ranch

The Convoy Pork & Shrimp Katsu Burger served on a brioche bun with pickled onions, butter lettuce, tonkatsu mustard spread, and radish sprouts

The Beef Bulgogi Sandwich made with Korean-style marinated beef, pickled daikon, carrot, and cucumber.

“I’m beyond happy to be part of this amazing team,” said Jonathan Bautista. “My goal is to continue elevating the guest experience and positive reputation Common Theory has already earned while integrating some of my own experiences, ideas, and favorite ingredients into the mix. I’m very excited about this new opportunity and all of the challenges it will bring.”
