Steve Aoki Set To Perform At Opening Of World Lacrosse Men’s Championship
The 2023 World Lacrosse Men’s Championship, presented by Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego, is set to begin in just 22 days on June 21, 2023, when the United States opens the 11-day tournament with a match against its North American rival, Canada, at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego.
Adding to the excitement of the opening match, internationally acclaimed DJ Steve Aoki will deliver a thrilling halftime performance!
Six Pools, Thirty Countries, and Multiple Venues
Featuring 30 countries, more than 100 games over 11 days and many of the sport’s top international stars, San Diego will become the epicenter of the men’s lacrosse universe throughout.
Games will be played at Snapdragon Stadium and on campus at both San Diego State University and the University of San Diego, including San Diego State’s Sports Deck and USD’s Torero Stadium.
The 30 countries set to compete include the United States, Canada, Haudenosaunee, Australia and England in Pool A; Japan, Uganda, Wales, France and Denmark in Pool B; Israel, the Philippines, the Czech Republic, Sweden and Puerto Rico in Pool C, Germany, New Zealand, Switzerland, Poland and Jamaica in Pool D; Scotland, Hong Kong, Italy, Austria and Mexico in Pool E, and Ireland, Korea, Latvia, the Netherlands and Peru in Pool F.
Performance by legendary DJ Steve Aoki
Adding to the excitement of the World Lacrosse Championship’s opening match is the halftime performance featuring internationally acclaimed DJ Steve Aoki.
Grammy-nominated and a past winner of MTV Latin America, Billboard and DJ Awards, Aoki has performed and collaborated with many of the world’s top musical artists, including San Diego’s very own Blink 182, The Backstreet Boys, Fall Out Boy, Rise Against, will.i.am, and others.
DJ Steve Aoki has also headlined many of the world’s top music festivals, including Coachella, the Ultra Music Festival, Lollapalooza, the Fuji Rock Festival, Tomorrowland and the EDC (Electric Daisy Carnival).
First time in San Diego
The 2023 World Lacrosse Men’s Championship will mark the 14th time the event has been staged.
This marks the fourth time the WLC will be contested on American soil and the first time it’s been held in San Diego. Previous WLCs held in the United States include Denver in 2014 and Baltimore in 1982 and ’98.
The American side has reached the finals in all 13 previous world championships, winning 10 world titles. It includes a 9-8 win over Canada in the last WLC that was held in Netanya, Israel in 2018.
Previous U.S. titles came in the inaugural World Lacrosse Championship played in Toronto in 1967, Melbourne, Australia in 1974, Baltimore in 1982 and ’98, Toronto again in 1986, Perth, Australia in 1990 and ’02, Bury, England in 1994 and Manchester, England in 2010.

Single-day tickets and tournament-long passes to all 107 World Lacrosse Men’s Championship matches are currently on sale here. Single-day tickets start at $40 with tournament-long passes starting at $99.
Single-day tickets are available for matches at Snapdragon Stadium and Torero Stadium, while tournament-long passes allow entry to all games and venues throughout the Championship.
The 2023 World Lacrosse Men’s Championship will begin on Wednesday, June 21 with a Fan Festival at Snapdragon Stadium from 3PM-5PM that is open to fans of all ages.
Opening Ceremonies will begin inside the stadium at 5:30PM and will feature a vibrant display of international sportsmanship and culture along with a parade of nations. The United States opening match against Canada is set to begin at 7PM.
