Emilio Nares Foundation Announces Month-Long “Emilio’s Ride Along” Campaign & Corporate Ride Along

The Emilio Nares Foundation (ENF) invites the San Diego community to participate in a month long Ride with Emilio Campaign in March, benefitting children battling cancer and other life-threatening diseases. ENF is a nonprofit organization that has helped low-income families navigate through their child’s journey with cancer for over 19 years. The organization has travelled over 1.2 million miles, serving over 6,000 families and recently expanded into Los Angeles. Emilio’s Ride Along Campaign will consist of ongoing fundraising efforts to raise critical funds for the Ride with Emilio Program including a Corporate Ride Along event on Friday, March 25.

19 years and counting

“For the past 19 years, the Emilio Nares Foundation has been fighting to ensure low-income children with cancer always have a ride to get to treatments,” said Karen Terra, CEO of the Emilio Nares Foundation. “While these past couple years have presented new challenges, we have not let that slow us down. We are honored to serve our community and grateful for its members and the community-minded businesses that have helped us achieve our mission. This includes our recent expansion into Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where there are more than 1,600 children who need transportation to their cancer treatments.”

This year’s goal is to raise $110,000, which will primarily support ENF’s flagship program, Ride with Emilio. ENF has experienced a critical loss in funding due to COVID-19, with the reallocation of grant funding and the inability to host regular fundraising events. Despite these challenges, ENF has persevered and continued to provide services, safely, for these families in need.

ENF understands that not all children with cancer are able to get to their treatments. Transporting immunocompromised children safely is also a challenge, but ENF ensures the safety of each ride with proper precautions such as masks, face shields, disinfecting vehicles and transporting one family at a time. Emilio’s Ride Along Campaign safely brings the foundation one ride closer to ensuring that no child misses a cancer treatment due to lack of transportation.
