Bavaria Meets Beach at Encinitas Oktoberfest
Get ready to dust off your lederhosen and dirndls, San Diego! The 28th annual Encinitas Oktoberfest is rolling into town, bringing a taste of Munich to our sunny shores. This isn’t just any Oktoberfest—it’s a full-blown SoCal spectacular that’ll have you saying “Prost!” with a surfboard in hand.
Brews, Bites, and Bavarian Beats
As you stroll down Mountain Vista Drive, the sun shining (because, duh, it’s Encinitas), you’ll be hit with the mouthwatering aroma of sizzling sausages and the sound of oompah bands. We’re talking authentic German eats, local craft brews, and enough Bavarian tunes to make you think you’ve teleported to Munich.
Two beer gardens will be serving up golden, frothy goodness from local favorites like Burgeon Beer Co., Modern Times, and more. And for you wine lovers, Los Cuernos California Wine will be there to keep your glasses full.
Fun for the Whole Fam (Furry Friends Included)
Bringing the kiddos? They’ve got you covered with a play zone that’ll make you wish you were a kid again—inflatable slides, face painting, and even a rock-climbing wall.
And for the first time ever, your four-legged friends can join in on the fun with a pet costume contest. Time to start brainstorming those lederhosen designs for Fido!
Why This Oktoberfest Rocks Our Lederhosen
Encinitas isn’t just jumping on the Oktoberfest bandwagon—they’ve got German roots that run deep. The northeastern colony of Olivenhain was founded by German farmers back in 1884. So when they throw an Oktoberfest, they’re not messing around.
From the ceremonial parade at noon to The Johnny Deadly Trio closing out the night, this is one party you don’t want to miss. It’s the perfect blend of old-world tradition and laid-back California vibes. So come for the beer, stay for the community spirit, and leave with a full belly and a happy heart.
See you there!
This Bavarian beach bash is happening on Sunday, September 29. The festivities kick off at 11 AM and keep rolling until 7 PM. And it’s free to attend! So grab your crew and head to Mountain Vista Drive off El Camino Real.
Pro tip: Ditch the car drama and hop on the free shuttle from Flora Vista Elementary School. It’s running from 10:45 AM to 7:15 PM, so you can focus on perfecting your stein-holding technique instead of circling for parking.
