Celebrate Music Sin Fronteras at the ARTS DISTRICT Summer Music Series
Summer is almost here, and ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station is gearing up for a season full of live music with the return of the ARTS DISTRICT Summer Music Series!
Happening every fourth Sunday of the month from June to September, the NTC Foundation, in partnership with ZIA Productions, invites friends and family members of all ages down to the North Promenade to enjoy free outdoor musical performances.
This year, in honor of World Design Capital’s first binational designation of Tijuana and San Diego, ARTS DISTRICT is pleased to spotlight four bands celebrating a variety of Latin American genres.
“The summer season has arrived, and we are excited to bring back one of the community’s most cherished events,” said Lisa Johnson, President and CEO of NTC Foundation.
“Whether you’re eager to discover emerging local talent or simply seeking some fun in the sun with family and friends, the ARTS DISTRICT Summer Music Series is the perfect opportunity to enjoy live music within San Diego’s premier hub for arts and culture.
“We are thrilled to be offering a great lineup of music this year!”

The bilingual, binational (Tijuana/San Diego), and multiracial group is composed of recording artists Amari Jordan, Alan Lili, and Jaime Mora. With music as their mother tongue, Tulengua aims to be a vessel for shared humanity and connection across divides.
Sonido de la Frontera | July 28
Sonido de la Frontera will be taking the stage, delivering a magnetic performance that just can’t be missed!
With music best described as a combination of Soundsystem culture, hip-hop production aesthetic, and the sounds of Latin America’s most prolific dance music, cumbia, the trio group induces the spirit of both culture and rebellion.
Comprised of Karlos Paez, Mr. Henshaw, and DJ Unite, Sonido de la Frontera invites you discover their signature sound that combines the many influential melodies found in the San Diego region.
Nosotros | August 25
Nosotros has been drawing music lovers to their distinctive Latin groove for nearly three decades. What began as a guitar trio in 1994 quickly took on a life of its own, becoming one of the most recognizable and original Latin bands in the Southwest United States.
The talented group combines a myriad of rhythms—cumbia, bolero, salsa, chica—with elements of rock, jazz, and beyond, creating an innovative and imaginative Latin sound that is unique, undefinable, and unmistakably Nosotros.
Frontera Bugalú | September 22
Frontera Bugalú started their musical journey along the border that stretches from Brownsville to El Paso, creating “cumbias rebajadas,” a style produced by slowing down vintage Colombian cumbia records on turntables.
Uniquely led by the button accordion, Frontera Bugalú embodies the new sound of the US-Mexico border, one that embraces the vibrant culture in the region. After many years and records, the group has honed its individual cumbia style and contagious live set.
