Supporting Monarch School
To make the deal even sweeter, the Monarch School, the only K-12 public school in the nation exclusively for unhoused youth, will be the recipient of donations raised at Ben & Jerry’s Free Cone Day.
From 11AM to 12PM, customers will be served by Monarch School Project CEO Afira DeVries and from 11AM to 11:30AM, radio and TV personality Geena “the Latina” Aguilar from Channel 933 will be a guest scooper.
“What a treat it is for Monarch School to benefit from Ben & Jerry’s on National Cone Day,” said DeVries. “It’s also an opportunity to let San Diegans know about how our school is helping students and families affected by homelessness through education, social and emotional support and life skills – and how they can get involved. It’s the only school of its kind in the country, and its right down the street.”
The Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shop in Seaport Village at 859 A West Harbor Drive will be donating all proceeds it raises through donation jars to the Monarch School.
Educating youth experiencing homelessness
San Diego’s Monarch School is the only comprehensive, public K-12 school in the country designed exclusively to educate and support youth experiencing homelessness.
Monarch provides students with a safe, stable learning environment where they can persevere through the trauma of homelessness that affects them and their success in education.
