ArtPower At UC San Diego Presents: An Evening With Sir Patrick Stewart

On Dec. 7, 2023, audiences are invited to join beloved actor Sir Patrick Stewart for an evening of inspiring conversation in celebration of his long-awaited memoir, “Making It So”.

‍From his acclaimed stage triumphs to iconic on screen work in the Star Trek and X-Men franchises, Stewart has captivated audiences around the world and across multiple generations. Now, he presents MAKING IT SO, a revealing portrait of an artist whose astonishing life – from his humble beginnings in Yorkshire, England to the heights of Hollywood and worldwide acclaim – proves a story as exuberant, definitive, and enduring as the author himself.

An Evening With Sir Patrick Stewart

The intimate conversation will be facilitated by Barry Edelstein, The Old Globe’s Erna Finci Viterbi Artistic Director, and is presented by ArtPower at UC San Diego in partnership with Warwick’s Bookstore and the Arthur C. Clarke Center for Human Imagination.

“ArtPower at UC San Diego is delighted to present international-treasure and legend of stage and screen, Sir Patrick Stewart,” said Colleen Kollar Smith, executive director of UC San Diego’s Campus Performances and Events Office.

“Few artists can appeal so universally to art lovers and science enthusiasts alike. Evenings like this exemplify ArtPower’s commitment to connecting world-class artists and local experts, like Barry Edelstein, to the San Diego community. I look forward to a memorable evening of inspiration and storytelling.”

“Shakespeare and Star Trek are two of my favorite things,” said Barry Edelstein, “So I’m beside myself with excitement to meet a man who brings both together with such talent, imagination, wit, and skill.  I’m honored to share a stage with Sir Patrick Stewart, whose book, “MAKING IT SO”, is a real delight, and I’m grateful to ArtPower at UC San Diego for the opportunity.”
