Wounded Warrior Homes Hosts Fairways 4 Veterans Golf Tournament
Wounded Warrior Homes’ annual golf outing, Fairways 4 Veterans, will be held on September 18th this year to raise money for veteran services. Proceeds will provide transitional housing and services for single post-9/11 veterans with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) military-related injuries and severe financial hardship through the Wounded Warrior Homes program.
For $225 per player, lunch, cart, greens fees, dinner, and a 19th hole celebration are all included. The community can sponsor a veteran to play for $225 or make a donation to support the fundraiser. One hundred percent of proceeds directly support Wounded Warrior Housing.
The City and County of San Diego have not only one of the highest populations of veterans, but also one of the highest number of homeless veterans. Wounded Warrior Homes’ aim is to alleviate the growing stress of unsheltered vets in California by providing transitional housing to these veterans. Poverty ranks as the leading factor in veteran homelessness. Civilian jobs tend to be hard to transition into, making it hard to earn a living wage. The most serious cause for veteran homelessness is Traumatic Brain Injury and/or Post Traumatic Stress.
