Step Into the Old West at the Fall Back Festival Children’s Street Fair

San Diego is about to turn back time. The 26th Annual Fall Back Festival Children’s Street Fair comes to Island Avenue, where kids and adults can experience San Diego as it was 200 years ago. It’s free, with entertainment, games, and loads of fun.

It’s held on the same day we turn our clocks back, and it’s one of the only family-friendly events downtown. The activities and entertainment are geared toward children, so bring the whole crew.

Step Into an Old West Town

For the day, Island Avenue becomes an old west town, just like San Diego was back in the 1800s. You’ll find games, entertainment, music, and activities that bring that era to life.

Old western style backdrops, activities, and contests round out the experience, making for some great photo ops. It’s a fun way for kids and adults alike to step into the past together.

Play Old-Time Games in the Courtyard

The courtyard is filled with old-fashioned games like bean bag toss and a “fishing hole.” They’re simple, classic, and a great chance for kids to unplug and try something new.

Grown-ups can join in on the fun too, so pick a game and see who comes out on top. There’s no need for fancy equipment here, just a little friendly competition and plenty of smiles.

Lucky Lions Kick Things Off

Lucky Lions opens the festivities with their fun Lion Dancers, and The Gift of Dance brings festive dancing to the stage. Grab a spot early, because you won’t want to miss the performances.

It’s a colorful, high-energy way to kick off the day, and a great chance for kids to see traditional dance up close. Keep your camera handy for the moves and costumes.

Extra Fun Beyond the Festival

Admission is free, but a Food and Fun ticket is available to unlock even more activities. This year also brings a silent auction with some great prizes to bid on and win.

The Gaslamp Museum at the Davis-Horton House is open for free self-guided tours, with donations gratefully accepted. Dogs on leashes are welcome in the outdoor areas, though not inside the museum.

See you there!

Old west fun, classic games, and festive performances make the Fall Back Festival a great way to spend the day the clocks turn back.
