Father Joe’s Villages Golf Classic: Swinging for San Diego’s Veterans
Father Joe’s Villages’ 5th Annual Golf Classic is happening at Grand Golf Club in Del Mar, and this tournament goes way beyond just a good day on the greens.
We’re talking about an event that raised over $219,000 last year to keep local veterans housed—which tells you everything about how much our community cares about this cause.

Why This Tournament Matters
Nearly eight percent of San Diego’s homeless population are veterans, and that’s a statistic that hits different when you think about people who served our country struggling with housing costs that average $2,350 a month.
PTSD, limited support systems, and San Diego’s brutal rental market create this perfect storm where veterans can quickly find themselves without a place to call home.
The funds from this golf classic directly support Father Joe’s Villages’ homeless prevention efforts—basically keeping veterans housed instead of waiting until they’re already on the streets.
It’s that proactive approach that makes all the difference, and honestly, it’s the kind of community support that makes us proud to call San Diego home.
The David C. Copley Foundation Match
Here’s what makes this year extra exciting: The David C. Copley Foundation is matching every dollar donated over last year’s total, up to $100,000. So if they beat that $219,000 from 2024, those extra donations get doubled. That’s potentially serious money going directly toward keeping veterans in stable housing.
Community Support in Action
The BEST CEO Group is presenting the event, with dozens of local companies participating. We’re seeing names like Baker Electric, Blue Marble Communications, The Super Dentists, and this year the Qualcomm Foundation joined as a Visionary Corporate Partner.
It’s that kind of local business involvement that shows how much our community values taking care of veterans.
