Foundation for Women Warriors Hosts Virtual Screening of Six Triple Eight Documentary
This February, the Foundation for Women Warriors is spotlighting a remarkable piece of history with the Six Triple Eight Documentary, honoring the courageous women of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion.
The virtual screening will offer firsthand stories from the women who served in the only all-Black, all-female battalion deployed to Europe during WWII.

About the 6888th Battalion
The Six Triple Eight battalion was sent to England and France in 1945 to tackle the overwhelming backlog of mail in the European Theater. Their motto, “No mail, low morale,” spoke volumes about their mission’s importance.
Despite facing racism and sexism from within their own ranks, these 855 trailblazing women completed their task in just six months, ensuring soldiers received vital letters from home. Though their service went unrecognized for decades, their legacy is finally being celebrated.
Marine veteran Keshia Javis-Jones, Director of Programs at Foundation for Women Warriors, shares a personal connection to this history.
Her grandfather, a WWII soldier, received mail thanks to the efforts of the 6888th Battalion. “The letters from home were what kept him going,” she recalls, emphasizing the battalion’s vital role in sustaining morale.
