Free Virtual Screening of The Six Triple Eight for Women’s History Month
For Women’s History Month, Foundation for Women Warriors is hosting a free virtual screening of The Six Triple Eight, a powerful documentary honoring the only all-Black, all-female battalion to serve in Europe during World War II.
This online community event shines a light on a remarkable chapter of history that for decades went largely unrecognized.

The Story of the Six Triple Eight
In February 1945, the U.S. Army deployed 855 Black women from the Women’s Army Corps to England and France to address a massive backlog of mail in the European Theater of Operations.
Officially known as the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, they were tasked with restoring communication between soldiers overseas and their families back home.
Facing racism and sexism from within their own ranks, these women carried out their mission with determination and discipline. In just six months, they cleared more than 17 million pieces of backlogged mail, helping lift morale for troops longing to hear from loved ones.
The last members of the battalion returned home in 1946. For many years, their contributions went largely overlooked.
Honoring a Long-Overdue Legacy
This documentary screening offers an opportunity to learn about the resilience, service, and impact of the Six Triple Eight. It’s a chance to reflect on the women who stepped forward during wartime, broke barriers, and fulfilled their mission against the odds.
The event is free and open to the community, continuing Foundation for Women Warriors’ commitment to honoring and supporting the service of women veterans.
