Foreigner Meets the San Diego Symphony: A Rock and Roll Night on the Bay
Few things hit quite like hearing your favorite rock anthems played under the open sky. This one takes it to another level. Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Foreigner are marking their 50th anniversary with an orchestral celebration. San Diego is one of the stops.

Half a Century of Hits, Backed by a Full Orchestra
Foreigner’s catalog needs no introduction. From “Juke Box Hero” and “Cold As Ice” to “Hot Blooded,” “Urgent,” and the worldwide number one hit “I Want to Know What Love Is,” the band has racked up 10 multi-platinum albums. Over five decades, they have had 16 Top 30 hits.
Hearing those songs performed live with the San Diego Symphony Orchestra behind them – conducted by Stuart Chafetz – is a genuinely different experience. In fact, it’s the kind that reminds you why these tracks have stayed with people for so long.

The Band Taking the Stage
Fronting the group is lead vocalist Luis Carlos Maldonado, joined by Jeff Pilson on bass. He is known for his years with Dokken. The lineup also features Michael Bluestein on keyboards, Bruce Watson on guitar, and Chris Frazier on drums.
It’s a tight lineup. They bring serious rock credibility to one of the more memorable shows of the year at the Shell.
The Rady Shell: Hard to Beat as a Venue
The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park sits right on San Diego Bay. It offers great sound, a beautiful waterfront backdrop, and that distinctly San Diego outdoor energy.
