Spend a Bayfront Sunday With the Gipsy Kings at The Rady Shell

You already know at least one Gipsy Kings song, even if you can’t name it. “Bamboléo” has soundtracked more backyard parties, road trips, and impromptu kitchen dances than most of us can count.

The group behind it lands at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, and there are few better places in the city to hear that rumba roll out over the water.

Gipsy Kings

The Sound That Traveled From Arles to Everywhere

The Gipsy Kings came together back in 1978 across Arles and Montpellier in southern France, blending Catalan rumba, flamenco, salsa, and pop into something that never quite sounds like anyone else.

Their self-titled third album is the one that broke them wide open, carrying “Djobi Djoba,” “Bamboléo,” and the ballad “Un Amor” into rotation around the world. Decades on, those songs still land the second the first chords hit.

A Family Affair, Led by Nicolas Reyes

This is a band that has stayed in the family, quite literally. Founder and lead singer Nicolas Reyes still fronts the group, which is made up of members of the Reyes and Baliardo families.

For this run he brings special guest Reyes Heritage along, keeping the whole thing rooted in the people who built the sound in the first place.

Under the open sky at the bayfront, with the guitars trading lines back and forth, it is the kind of show that pulls everyone to their feet whether they planned to dance or not.

Go VIP for the Best Seat in the House

If you want to make a real night of it, there is a Nicolas Reyes On Tour VIP Package. It gets you one premium reserved seat, an autographed tour poster signed by the artist (screen printed and individually numbered), and 10% off anything you grab at the merch booth during the show.

It is a nice way to lock in a great spot and walk away with something to hang on the wall.

See you there!

Bring someone who loves to dance, get there before the event starts, and let the Gipsy Kings turn a Sunday on the bay into the best night of your week.
