Chula Vista Is About To Get A Huge Mural From Ground Floor Murals That All Animal Lovers Will Love!
If you’ve ever admired the Tony Gwynn mural on the south side of the Undisputed gym in City Heights, or the giant Jaguar mural situated off Interstate 5, right near the entrance to the Coronado Bridge, you’re familiar with the work of Ground Floor Murals.
Their work can be seen throughout San Diego County, and soon, their work will also be displayed at the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility, thanks to a grant from the city.
Paul Jimenez and Signe Ditona, the couple who make up Ground Floor Murals, are huge animal lovers and advocates who value giving back to the community through their art, so when the opportunity to create a piece of art for an organization like the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility came up, they jumped on the opportunity.
The concept for the mural was crowd-sourced through a contest by Ground Floor Murals’ 12k+ Instagram followers.
Ground Floor Murals partnered with The Woof Booth, a local animal portrait photographer, and asked their followers to tag them in a photo of their pet visiting one of GFM’s murals, plus like and comment on their contest post, and tag them in a photo on their story, to be entered for a chance to have their pet’s portrait included on the mural. Winners received a full portrait photo shoot and a spot on the wall. All animals were eligible, including dogs, cats, birds, etc.
Six winners were chosen and their pets will be included on the mural.
See you there
The Ground Floor Murals team began painting the project on Wednesday, Aug. 31 and are scheduled to finish by Saturday, October 1. An unveiling event is also set for the same date.
