February 9th is National Pizza Day and Isola Pizza Bar (in Little Italy and La Jolla) is celebrating with a special selection of 3 brand new pizzas for a special price of $10 at both locations (February 9th only).

Isola’s pizzas are made using only double zero flour, imported from Naples which is allowed to ferment for two days to develop character. Fired in Isola’s custom made, cherry-red wood burning pizza oven imported from Naples, using white oak, also imported from Naples, the oven reaches temperatures of 900 degrees, giving Isola’s pizza it’s signature thin, crunchy texture and smoky undertones in just 2 minutes of cooking time. Handmade Mozzarella cheese from California, extra virgin olive oil, San Marzano tomatoes, and the freshest ingredients from local farms/purveyors create the perfect balance.

Chef/Owner, Massimo Tenino, is from Piemonte, Italy and named the restaurant after his “nonna,” Isola, who taught him how to cook and was instrumental in developing his passion for fresh, simple ingredients. Both Isola locations (Little Italy opened in 2012, La Jolla opened in July 2016) feature local San Diego brews including Ale Smith and Modern Times, in addition to rotating favorite Italian beers such as Moretti. The wine list features wines from various regions of Italy including a selection from the Pietro Rinaldi Winery owned by Massimo’s brother, Paolo Tenino which has been rated 94 points by Wine Spectator.

Isola’s regular menu features a variety of authentic appetizers, three variations of bruschetta, salads, pastas made in house, traditional Italian sea food dishes, and house made dessert selections. Daily specials also rotate based upon seasons and availability of local ingredients.

  • National Pizza Day Specials – $10 each (on February 9th only)
  • Pizza alla mela annurca – Annurca apples, Montreal chestnuts, provolone cheese, porchetta, fresh basil
  • Pizza fiori di zucca – Zucchini flower, provolone, prosciutto and fresh basil
  • Pizza prosciutto e fichi – Figs, Gorgonzola cheese, fresh mozzarella, prosciutto, and basil
