San Diego Comic-Con Museum Hosts “Lumpia with a Vengeance” Release Party

On Saturday, January 27, prepare for an afternoon of action and lumpia as San Diego Comic Convention’s Comic-Con Museum hosts the Lumpia with a Vengeance film’s Blu-ray and DVD release party!

The film, an indie comic book action-comedy film, alongside its companion comic book series, was screened and hosted by a panel at Comic-Con. The event is sponsored by SoCal Filipinos and the Pacific Arts Movement.

“To have Comic-Con Museum host our home video release is a fitting conclusion to our journey,” said Lumpia with a Vengeance’s director, writer, and producer Patricio Ginelsa.

“We found our core audience with our Comic-Con appearances. Thank you to those who filled our panels and signings, visited our booth at Comic-Con, and paved the way for our theatrical, digital, and now DVD release!”

Lumpia with a Vengeance Film and Comic Book Release

Directed by Patricio Ginelsa and filmed primarily in the San Francisco Bay Area, Lumpia with a Vengeance is a retelling of Ginelsa’s first-ever micro-budget feature titled Lumpia, and stars former UFC champion Mark Muñoz, Danny Trejo (Machete), April Absynth (STARZ Blindspotting), Katrina Dimaranan (Miss Philippines Universe Tourism 2021), Earl Baylon (Netflix Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft), and a talented ensemble.

The indie feature made its world premiere at the Hawaii International Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature.

A Day of Celebrations: Panels, Signings, and Lumpia Tasting

Lumpia with a Vengeance Release Party tickets will include:

  • 12:30 PM: Live comic book sketch demo from artists and father-son duo Lawrence and Diego Iriate in the Museum Theater, with a popup display of the film’s costumes and comic book art.
  • 2 PM: Panel discussion moderated by Brian Hu from Pacific Arts Movement, as the movie’s cast and crew share behind-the-scenes stories and insights on their remarkable ten-year journey from movie success to comic book creation. All panel attendees will receive a FREE exclusive art slipcase.
  • 3 PM: A delicious lumpia-filled reception, courtesy of Gaslamp Lumpia Factory.
  • 4 PM: Exclusive signing event in the Museum Shop. Be the first to own the Blu-ray/DVD of the movie or a variant of the trade paperback, exclusive to Comic-Con Museum, with art by San Diego native Benjamin DeGuzman (both for sale).

The filmmakers are releasing the Blu-ray/DVD in North America independently, having produced a two-disc DVD set that includes over an hour of bonus content, including music videos, deleted scenes, featurettes, and their officially licensed Comic-Con 2023 panel.
